The Bon Ritual Bell (Sil Nyen) is a flat bell with inward curved sides. In the center of the bell lies the lotus design, the symbol of purity. Coral and amber-colored beads lead to the end piece which strikes the bell.
Descending from the red and black leather lotus is a cord decorated with a yung drung (svastika), a symbol that represents the nature of our true mind: indestructible, eternal, everlasting. The Medicine Buddha holds a double yung drung in his right hand, which symbolizes the twenty-one thousand ways of diagnosis and treatment as taught by the Awakened One Tonpa Shenrab, the founder of the Bon Spiritual tradition.
This bell can be used to accompany rituals including Bon Chod practice.
